
Five Third-Period Goals Too Much To Overcome As Sea Wolves Fall 9-2

BILOXI, MS - The Mississippi Sea Wolves fell to the Gwinnett Gladiators by a score of 9-2 at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum on Saturday night.
Jordan Fox got the Gladiators on the board when he took a long lead pass from Chris Cava and beat Jeremy Duchesne on the glove side at 16:09 of the first period. Pat Bateman's power-play marker at 17:20 gave the Gladiators the lead heading into the locker room after one period.
Scott Marchesi's power-play blast from the point gave the Gladiators a 3-0 lead just 3:25 into the second period. Mississippi's Alex Parent scored the first of his two goals on the evening when Ryan Cruthers found him open in the middle of the ice, puck the puck on his stick and Parent popped it past the Gladiators' Kevin Nastiuk at 6:19. Gwinnett got its' three-goal lead back when Brad Schell buried a slapshot from the top of the left circle that chased Sea Wolves starter Jeremy Duchesne from the net at 11:14. Alex Parent's second of the game came at 12:27 when he took a lead pass from Ryan Cruthers and broke down the right wing, made a move and put the puck past Nastiuk on the glove side to cut the Gladiators lead to two.
Jeff Dunne would restore the Gladiators' three-goal lead again just 46 seconds into the third period, and Gwinnett would add insurance goals in the third period from Bruce Graham at 2:26, Dan Sullivan at 5:47, Graham again on the power play at 9:32, and Brad Schell at 13:27.
