Edmonton Oil Kings News Release

EDMONTON, AB - A big week for the Oil Kings just got that much bigger with the largest trade in modern franchise history at this year's Western Hockey League trade deadline. General Manager Bob Green pulled the trigger on a five player deal with the Vancouver Giants that will bring in thre new faces right now and three key draft picks in the very near future. The newest members of the Oil Kings including 20-year-old Garry Nunn, 19-year-old Mike Piluso and import Sebastian Svendsen are scheduled to join the team on Monday afternoon and will be available to the media at 12 p.m. in the Oil Kings dressing room.

While it was tough to see both Tomas Vincour and Brett Breitkreuz leave the organization in the deal, Edmonton Oil Kings Assistant General Manager Randy Hansch is excited about the package the Oil Kings receive in return which also included key draft picks that will help build this team into a Memorial Cup contender in the very near future.

"The key in the deal was the combination for us to help us both now and for the future," said Hansch.

"All three kids will help us. They are coming from Vancouver's program. They've gone through the process there and it will help us."

Nunn, 20 will finish his junior career with the Oil Kings. In 122 career games, the Victoria, BC native has tallied 44 goals and 67 assists.

"He is an experienced veteran," added Hansch.

"He is close to a point a game player over the course of his career. He'll have a big responsibility with our team."

Nunn missed part of the 2009-10 season due to injury. In 18 games

Piluso, 19, is a strong two-way forward who will be eligible to play next season with the Oil Kings as an over-aged player.

In 45 games this season, Piluso has tallied nine goals and nine assists and 32 penalty minutes.

"The key for us was to acquire a guy like him who has a solid two-way game in that age group," said Hansch.

"We talked about him when Vancouver just played here. He plays a real responsible game and we'll be able to keep him next year as a 20-year-old."

Svendsen, 18, hails from Hvidovre, Denmark and is in his first WHL season. In 36 games with the Giants, he has five goals and one assist.

"He's going to get an opportunity to come in and find a role to contribute," said Hansch.

"He's a player with some skill and we'll be able to help him develop."
