PLAYOFF PICTURE
The top four spots in the North Division are separated by only six points. The Manchester Monarchs (73) pace the division with a one-point lead over the Adirondack Thunder (72) through 59 games on the season. The Reading Royals (70) and the Wheeling Nailers (67) round out the top four spots and the playoff positions in the North Division. The Worcester Railers (59) are still battling to pass Wheeling for the four seed.
THUNDER ROLLING IN
Adirondack enters the weekend on a seven-game point streak, dating back to Feb 19 when they defeated the Brampton Beast, 3-1. During that stretch, Adirondack has picked up three points against the Monarchs in a 3-2 overtime loss and a 6-1 victory at SNHU Arena. The Thunder have won four-straight games, holding opponents to 1.50 goals per game.
DO WE WANT TO OUTSHOOT THEM?
The Thunder have dominated teams this season when they get outshot in a game. The Thunder have been outshot in 27 games and have posted an 18-6-2-1 record in those instances. Meanwhile, the Thunder are an even .500 when outshooting opponents, with a 14-14-0-2 record. This should be a battle with the Monarchs, who have outshot opponents 34 times this year and have posted a record of 21-10-2-1 during those games.
GET UP EARLY
Manchester has scored first in 30 games this season, posting a 20-6-3-1 record and has also posted an 18-4-2-0 record when leading after the first period. Adirondack is one of the most sensitive teams in the league when trailing early on, posting a 10-16-1-1 record when allowing the first goal of the game and a 3-16-1-1 record when trailing after the first period.
