Kansas City Mavericks News Release

BOISE, Idaho - The Kansas City Mavericks (30-27-1-2) extended their point streak to four games with a 3-2 loss in overtime against the Idaho Steelheads (34-19-4-3) Friday night at CenturyLink Arena.

The Mavericks built a 2-0 lead through two periods after scores from Troy Donnay and Matt Robertson, but a furious comeback from Idaho allowed the Steelheads to score the final three goals of the game in a come-from-behind win.

After a scoreless first, the Mavericks lit the lamp twice in the middle stanza. Donnay picked a corner for his third goal of the campaign less than three minutes into the second off a beautiful feed from Jordan Kwas for a 1-0 lead.

Toward the end of the period, Robertson banged home a rebound off a Shawn Pauly backhand to double the lead to 2-0 through 40 minutes of play.

The Steelheads roared back in the third period, potting two goals in the first 11 minutes of the final frame from Brady Brassart and Eric Sweetman to force overtime.

Once again it was all Steelheads in the extra frame, Cole Ully depositing the game-winner at 3:35 of the extra frame to seal the victory for the home team.

The Mavericks and Steelheads wrap up their weekend set Saturday night at 8:10 CT.
