Allen Americans News Release
Salt Lake City, Utah - The Allen Americans, ECHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks, open a two-game weekend set in Utah tonight against the Grizzlies. Puck drop at Maverik Center is 8:05 pm CST.
The Americans enter tonight's contest on a three-game winning streak, coming off an exciting 2-1 shootout win in Idaho on Wednesday night. Americans goaltender Jake Paterson has been solid in his three starts with a record of 3-0, with a 1.58 goals-against average and a .958 save percentage.
"I feel comfortable out there," said Americans netminder Jake Patterson. "This road trip is huge for us, if we want to make a push towards the playoffs. Wednesday night was a good start for us. I'm happy to get some games in and help our team any way I can."
Alex Guptill and Spencer Asuchak are both on three-game point streaks entering tonight's contest. Guptill has goals in three straight games and in four of his last five and leads the Americans with 24 goals.
"I'm feeling good out there right now, "said Guptill, following yesterday's practice. "When you're feeling this way, it seems they're all going in the net. I'm happy to be contributing and help us win some hockey games."
The Americans added another forward to the roster yesterday, acquiring J.C. Campagna from the Wheeling Nailers. Campagna, a Dallas native, played in five games for Wheeling this season and had 2 goals and an assist. He also played with Adirondack and Orlando this year. In 32 ECHL games total this season, he has 8 goals and 26 points.
