Mavs Minutes
Defensive Dominance
The Mavericks have built their three-game win streak largely on the defensive end, limiting Fort Wayne (two games) and Colorado (one game) to just six goals over the last three games - only one goal against in the third period in that span. Adam Carlson has stopped 85 of 91 shots faced in the last three games, including 19 of 20 against the Eagles on Wednesday. Idaho enters tonight's game having scored just one goal in back-to-back games.
Pauly's Hat Trick
Shawn Pauly tallied his second hat trick of the season with his three-goal effort at Colorado on Wednesday. The Bellingham, Washington native's previous hat trick came on the team's Kids Day Game against Tulsa on Nov. 14 - a game in which he set a career high of four points (3G+1A).
Second Line Still Streaking
The Corey Durocher-Mark Cooper-Jared VanWormer line remains red-hot after producing another goal in Wednesday's game. The trio brings a three-game point streak into tonight's game and all three members of the line have registered at least one point in six of the last seven games. On Wednesday it was Durocher lighting the lamp with helpers from Cooper and VanWormer.
Playoff Positioning
By virtue of the team's win on Wednesday combined with an idle Kalamazoo, the Mavericks are now alone in fourth in the Central for the final playoff spot. The Wings maintain two games in hand on the Mavericks and the teams do not play again this season, but Kalamazoo limps into action this weekend with a 2-7-0-1 mark in the team's last 10 games. The Mavericks' magic number to clinch a playoff spot stands at 30.
Mountain Climbers
Wednesday's win continued a winning trend for the Mavericks against Mountain Division teams. KC enters tonight's game at Idaho with a record of 15-11-0-1 against the West's other division, including wins over top-seeded Colorado, third-place Wichita, fourth-place Tulsa, fifth-place Allen and seventh-place Rapid City. The Mavs have not yet played Idaho or Utah.
