IMPORTANT WEEKEND

As we turn the calendar to March, the Monarchs face their biggest weekend of the year with the Thunder coming to town for two games, with four points at stake. Manchester will try to hold on to first place in the North Division with 71 points, as the Thunder follow close behind with 68 points. The Reading Royals (67), Wheeling Nailers (64), Worcester Railers (55) and Brampton Beast (51) round out the North Division standings.

LOSING STREAK

The Monarchs are in the midst of a three-game losing streak, with losses to Worcester (4-1), Reading (2-1 SO), and Wheeling (6-3). Manchester will look to avoid tying their season-long, four-game losing streak that they have posted twice this season (11/15/17 - 11/19/17 and 1/3/18 - 1/12/18).

BRINGING IT AGAINST THE THUNDER

Manchester's Jordan LaVallee-Smotherman will look to get back to his scoring ways after scoring no goals in his last four games and recording only one assist in his last three. Before the last three games, LaVallee-Smotherman had scored in 11 of 14 games and racked up 14 goals and 15 assists for 29 points during that stretch. Against the Thunder this season, he has scored five goals and five assists for 10 points in six games.

PERFECT MATCHUP

It seems like these two teams are the perfect matchup for each other. Over the last five seasons, the Monarchs have a 17-16-2-2 record against the Thunder, including a 3-2-1-1 record against them this season, with three games needing extra time to settle a winner. Last season, Manchester knocked Adirondack out of the playoffs in six games in the first round, getting revenge on the Thunder for knocking the Monarchs out of the first round in the 2016 playoffs in five games.
