San Antonio Missions News Release
SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Missions could not complete the series sweep against Oklahoma City as the Dodgers win 4-1. Missions starter Thomas Jankins made his Nelson Wolff Stadium debut but struggled in the third and fourth innings allowing four earned runs on four hits to record his first loss. The Dodgers were able to score all four of their runs with two outs. Daniel Corcino records his second win of the season for OKC.
It was scoreless after the first two innings with the Missions and Dodgers combining for one base hit. In the top of the third inning, Jankins walked the first two batters (picking off the first baserunner - Ezequiel Carrera) before giving up a three-run homerun to Matt Beaty. This was the ninth homerun allowed by a Missions starting pitcher this season.
The Dodgers added another run in the following inning on an RBI single from Errol Robinson. Both the home run and the single came with two outs. The Missions offense struggled early on, waiting until the bottom of the fourth inning to get their first hit courtesy of a Mauricio Dubon base hit.
The Missions were held scoreless until the sixth inning when Jake Hager drove in Nate Orf on a sacrifice fly. San Antonio had multiple chances to score throughout the middle innings as they had runners on base in each innings from the fourth until the seventh innings.
After having six players with multi-hit games last night, Missions players failed to record a multi-hit game this afternoon. Paulo Orlando recorded a three-hit game for the Dodgers. Tristan Archer, Taylor Williams and Michael Tonkin combined for four scoreless innings in the losing effort.
The Missions will hit the road for a four-game series against the Iowa Cubs beginning tomorrow night. The series will run from April 29-May 2. Adrian Houser is expected to start tomorrow night for the Missions and Matt Swarmer will start for the Cubs. First pitch tomorrow night will be 6:38 PM.
