Bees Take Series Finale against Albuquerque

The Salt Lake Bees took the series finale 14-8 against the Albuquerque Isotopes on Sunday afternoon.

Salt Lake trailed 7-3 going into the bottom of the fifth, but climbed back into the game with a pair of three run home runs. Cesar Puello drilled a three-run shot in the fifth to bring the Bees within one and Matt Thaiss hit a three-run homer of his own in the sixth to put the Bees on top. Bees hitters combined for 13 hits, with four of them leaving the yard as Jarrett Parker and Jose Rojas contributed homers of their own. Rojas lead the team with three hits on the day and Puello drove in a game-high four RBIs. The Bees outfield of Taylor Ward, Puello and Parker combined to go 6-for-12 with two home runs, six RBIs and six runs scored.

Parker Bridwell got the start for the Bees allowing six runs (five earned) over four innings of work. Simon Mathews picked up the win for the Bees with a single run allowed in two innings of relief. In his first appearance since being optioned from the Angels, Matt Ramsey retired all six batters he faced and Taylor Cole finished the game by allowing a solo home run to lead off the ninth, but quickly retired the final three Albuquerque batters.

The Bees begin a four game series with the Tacoma Rainiers starting on Monday night. Monday games are Smith's Family Night at the ballpark. Fans can buy four tickets and four hot dogs for $24 at www.slbees.com.
