Augusta Lynx News Release
F-P Guenette scored the game-winning goal and tacked on an assist in the Columbia Inferno's 4-1 defeat of the Augusta Lynx Friday night in front of 3,475 fans at the Frank McGurie Arena in Columbia, SC.
Derek Eastman opened the scoring and sent the teddy bears flying just 1:06 into the contest with his second goal of the season, deflected off a defender in front of the Lynx net and over the shoulder of Jason Wolfe.
Guenette extended the lead to 2-0 at 4:46 of the second period, followed by a Brandon Nolan marker that gave the Inferno a three-goal lead after 40 minutes of play.
Augusta finally got on the scoreboard in the third period when Brian Passmore scored from Ryan Lang and Nicolas Corbeil at 5:57, but Eric Nelson iced the cake for the Inferno with a power play goal at 12:24 from Chris Busby and Gunette.
Augusta finished 0-for-6 on the power play while Columbia finished 1-for-6. Wolfe took the loss with 24 saves while Chris Houle got the win with 29 stops.
The Lynx and Inferno are back at it tomorrow night in Augusta at 7:05 pm. Tickets are on sale now through the Lynx office at (706) 724-4ICE, through all TicketMaster locations, and on line at www.TicketMaster.com.
