Bombers Hand Royals First Loss On Home Ice This Season

Reading, PA - The Dayton Bombers enjoyed a 4-3 victory over the Reading Royals in front of 5,306 at the Sovereign Center Friday night. Mark Flood scored two goals, including the game-winner with just 36 seconds remaining in the third period.

The Bombers struck first when Scott Cameron notched his 8th goal of the season at 4:52 of the first period. Royals forward Greg Hogeboom beat Dayton goaltender Mike Brown under the crossbar at 17:16 to tie the game, 1-1, in the first. During a 5-on-3 powerplay, Tyson Teplitsky found Tim Konsorada backdoor and the Bombers took a 2-1 lead into the first intermission. Dayton recorded a season-high 22 shots in the first period.

Mark Flood blasted a shot from the point past Royals goaltender Barry Brust at 6:50, on the powerplay, giving Dayton a 3-1 lead. Reading countered with a powerplay goal of their own from Dany Roussin at 15:28, and the Bombers led 3-2 after 40 minutes.

Reading tied the game, 3-3, when Regan Rome fired a powerplay goal home at 7:46 of the third period. But with just 36 seconds remaining, Flood crashed the net and scored his second goal of the night lifting Dayton to the 4-3 victory.

The Bombers registered a season-high 45 shots on goal, while Reading recorded 36 shots. It was the first loss on home ice this season for the Royals.

The Dayton Bombers, proud "AA" affiliate of the National Hockey League's Columbus Blue Jackets, are celebrating their 15th Anniversary this season.
