Long Beach receives forwards Wacey Rabbit and Chris Collins from the Providence Bruins

LONG BEACH, Calif. - The Long Beach Ice Dogs of the ECHL, a proud affiliate of the Boston Bruins, have announced that forwards Chris Collins and Wacey Rabbit have been loaned to the Ice Dogs from the Providence Bruins in the American Hockey League.

Rabbit, 20, is in his first professional season after five junior years with the Saskatoon Blades of the Western Hockey League, during which the center accumulated 186 points (80g, 106a) in 259 games. In 22 games with the P-Bruins this year, he has three points (1g, 2a), including his first pro goal November 10 against Worcester. The Lethbridge, Alberta, native was selected by Boston 154th overall (fifth round), in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

Collins, 22, an undrafted signing by Boston, is a four-year product of the Boston College Eagles. While playing for B.C., the Fairport, New York, native, tallied 122 points (63g, 59a) in 162 collegiate games. Last year, the left wing posted career-highs with 34 goals and 29 assists en route to leading the Hockey East in scoring and being named one of three finalists for the Hobey Baker Award. Along the way, Collins was named the Hockey East's Player of the Year, a member of the All-Star First Team and a NCAA East All-American. He returns to the Ice Dogs with 12 ECHL points (6g, 6a) in 16 contests and two AHL goals in 16 games with Providence.
