Wranglers host Victoria Tuesday, Long Beach Friday

Las Vegas, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers ® posted a 1-1-1 record last week starting with a 3-2 loss at home to Bakersfield on Friday night. Las Vegas beat Phoenix 5-2 at the U.S. Airways Center on Saturday night. The Wranglers rounded out their week with a 2-1 overtime loss at Long Beach on Sunday.

Las Vegas will return home on Tuesday, January 9th at 7:05 pm to host the Victoria Salmon Kings at the Orleans Arena. The Wranglers will then host the Long Beach Ice Dogs at 7:05 pm at the Orleans Arena at 7:05 pm on Friday, January 12th. The first 2,500 fans will receive a Marc Magliarditi figurine.

Long Beach 1 at Las Vegas 4

The Las Vegas Wranglers defeated the Long Beach Ice Dogs 4-1 in front of 4,063 fans at the Orleans Arena on Monday evening. Lucas Lawson, Jason Krischuk, Steve Crampton, and Chris Neiszner each scored goals for the Wranglers in the win. Wranglers' goalie Kevin Nastiuk stopped 17 shots for the win. Long Beach goalie Brett Jaeger made 35 saves in the loss.

Friday, January 5th

Bakersfield 3 at Las Vegas 2

Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers were defeated by the Bakersfield Condors 3-2 on Friday night in front of 5,655 fans at the Orleans Arena. Center Andrew Ianiero's eighth goal of the season in the first period, was the game winner for Bakersfield. The Condors netted all three of their goals in the first period. Wranglers' forwards Kelly Czuy and Marco Peluso each scored in the Las Vegas loss. Wranglers' goalie Kevin Nastiuk stopped 26 of 29 shots in the defeat.

Saturday, January 6th

Las Vegas 5 at Phoenix 2

The Las Vegas Wranglers defeated the Phoenix RoadRunners 5-2 at the U.S. Airways Center on Saturday night. Center Derek Edwardson registered a four-point night with a hat trick and an assist to lead the Wranglers to victory. Goalie Mike McKenna made 43 saves in his return from Omaha. Left wing Steve Crampton dished out three assists as Las Vegas went 4 for 8 on the power play. Defenseman Aaron Power scored a goal and added an assist. Winger Lucas Lawson scored the game-winning goal at 1:57 of the second period.

Sunday, January 7th

Las Vegas 1 at Long Beach 2 OT

The Las Vegas Wranglers® were defeated by the Long Beach Ice Dogs 2-1 in overtime at the Long Beach Arena on Sunday night. Long Beach defenseman Gabriel Proulx scored the game-winning goal on the power-play just 2:37 into the extra period, breaking a 1-1 tie and giving the Ice Dogs the victory. Despite 39 saves on 41 Ice Dogs shots from goalie Mike McKenna, the Wranglers fall in overtime at Long Beach for the second straight visit. Winger Kelly Czuy scored the only Las Vegas goal. The Wranglers remain tied for first place in the Pacific Division with Fresno at 44 points a side.

Shuffling the Deck.....

There have been numerous roster moves made over the last week. Goalie Mike McKenna and forward Aki Seitsonen were both recalled last Friday and reassigned on Saturday. Both played in Omaha's 5-1 loss at home on Friday night. Forward Ryan Donally was added to the roster last Wednesday from Omaha. In separate roster moves, goalie Marc Magliarditi and forward Joe Tallari were both activated off the injured reserve, while defenseman Scott Schoneck was placed on the seven-day injured reserve list. Defenseman Jaako Harikaala remains on the 30-day injured list, while defenseman Jason Jozsa remains on recall in Omaha. Winger Shawn Limpright was placed on the 3-day injured list. Marc Magliarditi did not make the trip with the team either. Center Tyler Mosienko missed Sunday's game in Long Beach, breaking a string of 103 straight games played. Marco Peluso sat out Saturday's game in Phoenix with an injury, but returned to the lineup Sunday in Long Beach.

WRANGLERS' GULUTZAN TO COACH ALL-STAR TEAM

FOR SECOND STRAIGHT YEAR

The ECHL selected Wranglers Head Coach Glen Gulutzan to coach the National Conference squad at the Rbk Hockey ECHL All-Star Game in Boise, ID on January 17th at 6:05 pm (PST). It's the second straight year Gulutzan will coach the National Conference all stars. He will be joined on the National Conference bench by Stockton's Chris Chihocki.
