The Chiefs went on their longest road trip of the season, visiting American Conference rivals Gwinnett, Augusta, and South Carolina.

At Gwinnett on Friday, the Chiefs got out to an early lead on the Gladiators but were unable to hold, as Gwinnett tied the game late in the third period. The shootout went to an eighth round before Matt York scored to seal the win for Gwinnett.

The Chiefs traveled to Augusta, where the Lynx jumped out to a 5-1 first period lead and held on to win 7-2.

On Sunday, Johnstown visited the South Carolina Stingrays, who broke out to a 3-0 lead after one period and went on two win by a score of 7-2.

Great Performances:

Radek Smolenak (1a, 2g) and Andre Deveaux (2g, 1a) each had three points at Gwinnett.

Morgan Cey has now appeared in nine consecutive games for Johnstown, starting seven of them. In those seven starts, Cey has face more than 40 shots four times, more than 50 three times, and more than 60 twice.

Eric Przepiorka had three points in his last two games, scoring a goal and adding an assist at Augusta and scoring a goal at South Carolina.

Jan. 5 @ Gwinnett (3-4 SOL)

Andre Deveaux scored twice for Johnstown, but Toledo's power-play went 2-for-4 as they downed the Chiefs to tie the game at three and send it to a shootout. Morgan Cey made 59 saves on 62 shots, taking the OT.

Jan. 6 @ Augusta (2-7 L)

Jean Desrochers and Eric Przepiorka scored for Johnstown, but Augusta jumped out to an early lead, scoring five goals in the first 33 minutes of the game. Gerald Coleman made 16 saves on 21 shots before being replaced by Morgan Cey, who made 14 saves on 15 shots.

Jan. 7 @ South Carolina (2-7 L)

Andre Deveaux and Eric Przepiorka scored for Johnstown, but South Carolina did the damage early, leading 3-0 after one period and cruising to a 7-2 win. Morgan Cey made 38 saves on 45 shots.

Johnstown played all three games with a short bench this weekend, dressing nine forwards and five defenseman for each game due to injuries and recalls...

Chiefs Community Corner

The Chiefs will visit Richland Elemntary School on Tuesday and West Taylor Elementary School and Conemaugh Valley Elementary School on Wednesday as part of the Score With Books Program.
