Pensacola Ice Pilots News Release
THE WEEK: The Pensacola Ice Pilots finished the week with a mark of 1-2-0-0 and currently have a record of 9-21-1-1 for 20 pts. The Ice Pilots began the week with a 7-4 victory over the South Carolina Stingrays and then fell 6-4 to the Stingrays and 6-4 to the Gwinnett Gladiators.
ROSTER MOVES: The Ice Pilots waived goaltender Ben Gray and were reassigned goaltender Michael Mole from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. The Ice Pilots also signed goaltender Evan Lindsay.
DODGE/ICE PILOTS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Mike Wirll is the Dodge/Ice Pilots Player of the Week. Wirll, a native of Regina, Saskatchewan has moved into a tie for eighth in the ECHL scoring race with 21 goals and 17 assists for 38 points. This past week, Wirll collected five goals and added two helpers for seven points and had 17 shots on goal.
HOME ICE: The Pensacola Ice Pilots have heated up at The Hangar in recent games with a mark of 3-2-0-0 in their last five. The Ice Pilots have posted seven goals or more in the three wins over Texas, Gwinnett and South Carolina.
UPCOMING WEEK:
THURSDAY, JAN. 11 @ GWINNETT GLADIATORS, 6:05 PM CENTRAL, 7:05 PM EASTERN.
This is the fourth meeting of the season between the Pensacola Ice Pilots and the Gwinnett Gladiators. The Ice Pilots have one victory in three meetings but none in Gwinnett.

FRIDAY, JAN. 12 @ CHARLOTTE CHECKERS - 6:30 PM CENTRAL, 7:30 PM EASTERN.
It's only the second trip to Charlotte this season for the Ice Pilots. The last time the Pensacola Ice Pilots visited the Charlotte Checkers, they pulled out a late 4-2 victory.

SATURDAY, JAN. 13 @ AUGUSTA LYNX - 6:30 PM CENTRAL, 7:30 PM EASTERN.
The Pensacola Ice Pilots make their fourth straight trip to Augusta to face the Lynx. The Ice Pilots have dropped the last two meetings to Augusta including a 3-0 setback just after Christmas.

MONDAY, JAN. 15 @ COLUMBIA INFERNO -- NOON CENTRAL, 1 PM EASTERN.
It's just the second trip to Columbia this season for the Ice Pilots and the last time they met, Mike Wirll scored late to help the visitors win 3-2.

LAST WEEK'S GAMES:
ICE PILOTS 7 - STINGRAYS 4: Mike Wirll netted a hat-trick to lift the Ice Pilots past South Carolina 7-4. Two of his three goals were in the third period with the final one coming in an empty net. Travis Lisabeth notched a goal and three assists for the Ice Pilots, while John Hecimovic, Sergei Ogorodnikov, and Rob Rankin added singles. The Ice Pilots raced out to a 3-1 first-period lead and that proved to be the difference.
STINGRAYS 6 - ICE PILOTS 4: A third-period rally fell short in Charleston as the Ice Pilots lost 6-4 to the Stingrays. South Carolina jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the opening period. At one point Pensacola narrowed the deficit to 5-4 late in the third period but couldn't get the equalizer. Goal scorers for Pensacola were Mike Wirll, Dwayne Hay, Sergei Ogorodnikov and David Wrigley. Defenseman Niko Tuomi picked up three assists.
GLADIATORS 6 - ICE PILOTS 4: The Ice Pilots saw a two-game home winning streak come to an end with a 6-4 loss to the Gladiators at The Hangar. Gwinnett snapped a 2-2 tie early in the second period with three goals in a span of 1:37. Dwayne Hay had two goals, while David Wrigley and Mike Wirll picked up singles.
