Lehoux's Scoring Streak Ends With Rampage's 6-1 Loss

San Antonio Rampage News Release

SAN ANTONIO - After recording a point in each of the last nine games, Yanick Lehoux's season-high scoring streak was snapped in a 6-1 loss to the Manitoba Moose Friday night in front of 6,345 people at the AT&T Center. Lehoux missed setting a new franchise record as he was tied with Ryan Jardine heading into tonight's game for an all-time high scoring streak set in 2003.

Despite being outshot and outscored in the opening period, the Rampage looked strong but fell behind early when Jason Jaffray scored at the 6:55 mark.

Just a minute into the second stanza, Bill Thomas took a shot that was deflected off of Wade Flaherty's pad and set idle in front of the net for Don MacLean to sweep over Flaherty's shoulder for the Rampage's only goal. Jeff Taffe was credited with the assist along with Thomas on MacLean's eighth goal of the season.

Former Rampage forward, Lee Goren, was quick to return the favor scoring only eight seconds later plowing over David LeNeveu while helping Alex Edler's shot from the top of the left circle into the net.

Manitoba went on a scoring flurry in the final period, scoring four consecutive goals. Brad Moran, the game's first star, scored his second point and first goal of the night midway into the period to knock the wind out of the Rampage with his seventh power-play goal of the season to give the Moose a 3-1 lead.

Manitoba's Nathan McIver gave the Rampage one last opportunity to come back with a five-minute major for high-sticking Lehoux. The Rampage would use 2:47 worth of the man-advantage before drawing a pair of penalties within a minute.

The Moose would score a trio of goals within the last three minutes of regulation, including a pair of power-play goals.

The Rampage, now 9-18-0-0, will face the Moose again Sunday in a matinee game against the Moose at the AT&T Center at 5 p.m.
