Simon Signs AHL Contract with Syracuse

Syracuse, NY (December 15, 2006) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that center Ben Simon has been signed to an AHL contract with Syracuse. In addition, the team signed defenseman Jamie Fraser to a professional try-out contract.

Simon, 28, has appeared in 23 games with Syracuse this season while on a P.T.O., tallying 5 goals, 5 assists and 24 penalty minutes. Last season with Syracuse, Simon recorded 13 goals, 24 assists and 93 penalty minutes in 66 games. In 2005-06, Simon saw action in 13 games with Columbus, recording four penalty minutes. In 303 career AHL games with Chicago, Milwaukee and Syracuse, Simon has registered 56 goals, 82 assists and 315 penalty minutes. A native of Shaker Heights, Ohio, Simon is currently tied for eighth on the Crunch's all-time shorthanded goals list with four.

Fraser, 21, has appeared in 23 games with South Carolina (ECHL) this season, recording 5 goals, 21 assists and 6 penalty minutes. A native of Sarnia, Ontario, Fraser has 6 goals, 21 assists and 8 penalty minutes in 26 career games with South Carolina.

Syracuse is in action again on Friday, December 15 as they travel to Springfield for a 7:35 p.m. match-up against the Falcons.
