Adirondack Phantoms News Release

PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia Flyers General Manager Paul Holmgren announced today that the Phantoms have signed center Sean Collins to a professional tryout. Collins arrived in Philadelphia earlier this evening and joined the Phantoms in time for tonight's game against the Hershey Bears.

Collins, 23, is a 5-9, 180-pound native of Reading, MA. He has spent the 2006-07 season to this point with the ECHL's Wheeling Nailers, where he has served as the team captain. In 23 games, Collins has 10 goals and 28 assists for 38 points, which ranks him first on the Nailers and second in the league in scoring.

Collins also spent most of the 2005-06 season with Wheeling, but played eight games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins under current Phantoms assistant coach Joe Mullen. In 62 games as a rookie for the Nailers, Collins accrued 27 goals and 48 assists for 76 points.

Prior to turning pro, Collins played four years at the University of New Hampshire. He was a ninth-round selection (289th overall) of the Colorado Avalanche in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
