
Las Vegas Reclaims First Place, Magliarditi Wins 200th ECHL Game

Boise, ID - The Las Vegas Wranglers (32-7-4, 68 points) beat the Idaho Steelheads (23-14-5, 51 points) 6-5 in a shootout at the Qwest Arena on Monday night. Center Matt Dzieduszycki scored twice in regulation and scored the game-winning goal in the shootout to lead the Wranglers to their 32nd win of the season. Defenseman Christian Chartier and forwards Sean O'Connor, and Steve Crampton also scored for the Wranglers as they reclaimed first place from the Alaska Aces. Goalie Marc Magliarditi made 31 saves for his 200th ECHL victory and league leading 20th of the season. The Wranglers will head to Long Beach for a game on Friday night at 7:30 pm.
In the first period, Las Vegas scored the first goal of the night to take a 1-0 lead as Sean O'Connor snapped in a rebound at 6:56. O'Connor snagged a rebound for his seventh goal of the season as a Wranglers' power play expired with a scramble for the puck in front of the Idaho net. Las Vegas would add to it before the period ended as Steve Crampton sprung Matt Dzieduszycki over the Idaho blueline for a breakaway. Dzieduszycki lifted a backhand shot over the glove of Steve Silverthorn for his 20th goal of the season and a 2-0 Las Vegas lead.
In the second period, Idaho's Greg Hornby put the Steelheads on the board with a power-play goal at 3:24, to make it 2-1 Las Vegas. The Wranglers jumped back up by two as Steve Crampton scored his ninth goal of the season at 10:10, making the score 3-1 Las Vegas. Idaho's D'Arcy McConvey answered that with his 19th goal of the season on the power play to cut it to 3-2 Wranglers. Las Vegas scored a power-play goal at 14:36 to regain their two-goal lead as Christian Chartier scored his third goal of the season. Idaho countered with a goal of the own as Paul Caponigri picked off a clearing pass and snapped a shot past Marc Maglisrditi to cut the Wranglers lead to 4-3.
In the third period, Las Vegas once again, regained their two-goal lead at 5-3, on Dzieduszycki's second goal of the night at 7:09. Idaho continued to keep pace with Las Vegas as Garrett Bembridge scored his 34th of the season at 12:35 to edge the Steelheads within one at 5-4. Steelheads forward Marty Flcihed scored his 17th goal of the season to tie the game at five and send it into overtime with only 1:22 remaining.
After a scoreless overtime, Las Vegas edged Idaho 2-1 in a shootout. Matt Dzieduszycki and Sean O'Connor scored in the shootout for the Wranglers. Idaho's Flichel scored the only Steelheads goal in the shootout as Magliarditi stuff four of the five Idaho shooters.
Las Vegas concludes their seven-game road trip with stops in Long Beach and Bakersfield this weekend. Las Vegas will return to home ice on Tuesday, February 7th in a showdown with Alaska. At 7:05 pm.
