Chiefs Sweep Valley Teams

The Johnstown Chiefs swept through the Ohio Valley on Friday and Saturday, picking up wins over Dayton and Wheeling. Randy Rowe led the Chiefs, scoring a pair of goals, and adding an assist in the wild 8-6 win over Dayton. The Chiefs sprinted out to a 4-0 lead, before Dayton rallied to tie the game at 5, midway through the third period. The Chiefs then scored three goals in just over four minutes, to claim the win. J.B. Bittner added a goal and four assists, as Justin Kelly picked up a goal and three helpers. Eleven Chiefs found the score sheet, as the Chiefs assuming a commanding 13 point lead over Dayton for the 5th seed in the North division.

Rowe again paced the Chiefs on Saturday, as Johnstown stunned the Wheeling Nailers, 4-2. Rowe picked up a pair of tallies, just one minute and 41 seconds apart in the second period. His second goal was the game winner, as Dmitri Tarabrin added the empty netter. Ben Wallace picked up his first multi-point game as a Chief, chipping in two assists.

The wins pushed the Chiefs pack to .500, at 17-17-8, and into a fourth place tie with Trenton, though the Titans have three games in hand.
