Johnstown, Pa(January 30, 2006) --Another former Johnstown Chief made it to the NHL. Doug O'Brien played his first NHL game Sunday, for the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Doug O'Brien, 21, played for the Chiefs last season, before he earned a promotion to the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League. O'Brien was a sixth round selection (#192 overall) of the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2003.

In 45 games with Springfield this season, O'Brien netted three goals, 15 assists and 50 PIM's. He went scoreless in three games with the Chiefs, last season.

O'Brien joins fellow Chiefs alumni Grant Stevenson (San Jose) and Dmitri Patzold (San Jose), who also made their NHL debuts this season. Stevenson had a goal in two games for the Chiefs last season. Patzold, picked up eight wins in nine appearances in 2003.

Stevenson, 24, has nine goals and nine assists in just 28 games with the San Jose Sharks this season.

Patzold, 22, spent two weeks in San Jose this season, but did not see action.

There are now 22 former Chiefs who have made it to the National Hockey League.

The Johnstown Chiefs 2005-06 season continues Wednesday at home against Trenton. The Chiefs are tied with Trenton for fourth place in the North Division. Tickets are available by calling 1-800-SLAPSHOT or by visiting www.ticketmaster.com.
