Evansville Otters News Release
(EVANSVILLE, Indiana) - Utilityman Jared Jordan played an inning at each defensive position for the Evansville Otters on Thursday night but the team lost to the Normal CornBelters 16-5 in the final home game of the season.
Jordan started off the game as a catcher, moved around the infield from the right side to the left, played each of the outfield positions and finished the game on the mound in the final inning.
The rookie from Moreno Valley, California is only the second player to do it in franchise history and first Evansville Otter to accomplish the feat since Matt Cano played all nine defensive positions for the team back on August 27th, 1998.
Evansville fell behind 5-0 early but rallied back with a four run inning in the third. Designated hitter Steve Caseres and infielder Phil Britton both recorded two-run doubles as the Otters clawed within a run.
It would, however, be as close as the team would get as Normal continued to score in the middle innings on their way to a 16-5 victory.
The CornBelters avoid a sweep and improve to 43-50 this year as the Otters are now 36-57.
Starter Bobby Pritchett (9-5) pitched a complete game for the win. He allowed five runs during that time in his third complete game of the season. Evansville's Joey Satriano (3-2) takes the loss for Evansville as he threw 4 1/3 innings in the defeat.
Jared Jordan finished the night 0 for 4 and allowed three unearned runs in his inning pitched. In order, he played catcher, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, LF, CF, RF, and pitcher.
Evansville will now begin their final series of the season tomorrow when the Otters travel to play the Southern Illinois Miners on Friday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CDT at Rent One Park.
