MARION, Ill. - The Southern Illinois Miners are proud to announce that second baseman Will Block has been voted to the Frontier League Post-Season All-Star Team. Block is the eighth Miner to be named to the Post-Season All-Star Team in the club's five year history.

"It's a great honor to be selected to the team," Block said. "It's great that I could put a great year together and that the team was able to put together a great year to get us into the playoffs and hopefully with this thing."

Block is in his third year with the team, and this is his first Post-Season All-Star selection. He was voted the starting second baseman for the West Division in the Frontier League All-Star Game in July.

He is hitting .295 in 84 games this season. His 17 home runs lead the team and are the most hit by a Miner since Joey Metropoulos hit 31 in 2009. Block leads the league in triples (9) and slugging percentage (.613). His 24 doubles rank fifth in the league, and his 50 extra-base hits are tied for second most in the league.

"He's had a great year," Miners Hitting Coach Ralph Santana said. "Seeing him from day one when he got here, he's made a lot of improvements, and he's going to be a great player from here on out."
