Traverse City Beach Bums News Release
TRAVERSE CITY, MI-The Traverse City Beach Bums are excited to announce that left fielder J.T Hall has been named to the 2011 Frontier League postseason All-Star Team announced Thursday.
Hall, a 26-year-old from Port Gibson, Mississippi, set the Beach Bums single-season home run record this season. On August 17, Hall launched a game-winning solo homerun to beat the 2011 division rival Lake Erie Crushers by a score of 5-4. In the process, Hall set a new Beach Bums home run record with his twentieth home run, topping the 2010 mark held by infielder Chase Burch. At the time of publication, he placed second in Frontier League home runs with 21. Hall also is the only player in the Frontier League who has over 20 home runs and 20 stolen bases in a single season.
As a Beach Bum, Hall sports a career average of .267, launching 29 home runs and driving in 119 runs heading into the final days in the 2011 season. Hall has been a constant in the Beach Bums lineup having played in every Beach Bums game during the past two seasons. "This is a well deserved honor for J.T.," Beach Bums manager Gregg Langbehn said. "He continues to lead by example and his daily preparation has resulted in an All-Star season."
Hall is the second player in as many years to be a part of the leagues' postseason All-Star team. Last season, Burch made the team after helping lead the Beach Bums into the 2010 Frontier League Playoffs. "His accomplishments and commitment to excellence show how one should play the game and are a pleasure to watch," Langbehn said.
Having been a 2008 Florida State League All-Star as well as a two-time Frontier League mid-season All-Star, accolades are nothing new for Hall, who signed with the Beach Bums on March 15, 2010, giving the teams' front office a player to build around, "J.T. is very deserving of this honor," said general manager Jeremy Crum. "He has had a great year and really led our team."
