Rascals Fall to Miners

River City Rascals News Release


O'Fallon, Mo. - River City lost tonight to the Southern Illinois Miners by a final of 5-3, ending any chance of setting a new Frontier League wins record.

The Rascals (65-27) trailed 3-0 after the top of the fifth and hit in to tough luck all night, posting 11 hits but scoring just three runs, one of which came in the fifth inning on a Logan Parker sac-fly to close the deficit to 3-1.

Southern Illinois (58-35) made it 5-1 in the seventh an another two-run homerun but the Rascals would battle back in the eighth inning, plating two runs on three hits and two throwing errors to close the score to 5-3. but ran into a costly out on the bases.

The Rascals begin a three-game series Friday against the cross-town rival Gateway Grizzlies. First pitch is set for 7:05.
