Alvaro Ramirez Named Post-Season All-Star

NORMAL - The Normal CornBelters, presented by Illinois Corn Farmers, are proud to announce that centerfielder Alvaro Ramirez has been named to the Frontier League Post-Season All-Star Team. Following a three road trip, the CornBelters will be back at home for the final home stand of the season, beginning Friday, September 2 (Larry Gatlin Concert / Cram the Crib / CEFCU Fireworks Friday / Silent Auction Benefiting Jared Poppe).The 25-year-old spent the 2010 season with the Peoria Chiefs and Boise Hawks, both affiliates of the Chicago Cubs. Ramirez, hailing from the Dominican Republic, boasts a .332 batting average, ranking him among the top five in the Frontier League at this point. He has also contributed 43 RBI, 2 home runs, 24 doubles, and 23 stolen bases so far this season.

Field manager Hal Lanier said, "Alvaro has been a very solid player for the CornBelters since he joined our club. We, the coaching staff, are extremely happy for him. He is a player that has brought a lot of energy to our ball club and is deserving of his selection to the Post-Season All-Star Team. He has been one of the best leadoff hitters in the Frontier League. We, the CornBelters, thank Alvaro for his contribution to our organization."
