LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Victor Victor Mesa homered and Jeff Lindgren threw seven strong innings as the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp won their third consecutive game with a 3-1 win over the Gwinnett Stripers Thursday night at Coolray Field.

Jacksonville (68-58) took the early lead in the top of the third inning. Santiago Chavez led off with a double against Gwinnett (60-66) starter Ian Anderson (L, 1-1). Brian Miller followed with a single and Chavez went to third. A throwing error allowed Miller to advance to second and Chavez scored the first run and the Jumbo Shrimp jumped ahead 1-0. With Miller on second, Erik González smacked a single that scored Miller from second to double the lead to 2-0.

The Stripers cut the lead in half with a run in the bottom of the third inning. Delino DeShields Jr. was hit by a pitch and tagged up for second on a fly out from Ozzie Albies two batters later. In the ensuing at-bat, Rylan Bannon knocked a base hit that scored DeShields Jr. to bring Gwinnett to within one, 2-1.

It remained a one-run contest until the sixth inning when the Jumbo Shrimp added to their lead. With two outs, Mesa (1) smacked his first Triple-A home run, knocking it off the foul pole in right field to give Jacksonville a two-run cushion, 3-1.

Lindgren (W, 3-2) led Jacksonville to victory, tying a career-high seven innings while allowing just one run on four hits with one walk and four punch outs. Josh Simpson and Eli Villalobos (S, 2) locked the game down, combining for two scoreless frames, allowing just one hit and striking out four.

Jacksonville and Gwinnett continue their series Friday at 7:05 p.m. LHP Matthew Kent (6-9, 5.35 ERA) gets the ball for the Jumbo Shrimp and the Stripers will counter with RHP Mike Soroka (0-1, 6.75 ERA) who will be making a rehab start.
