WORCESTER, MA - Despite outhitting the Worcester Red Sox on Thursday night at Polar Park, the Buffalo Bisons fell 4-3 to drop two of the first three games of the series.

Brandon Eisert worked the first two innings for Buffalo, one of six pitchers used in the game. The left hander recorded four strikeouts of the six outs registered in his two frames of work. Overall, the Bisons pitching staff struck out 11 WooSox batters in the loss.

Worcester struck first thanks to a Tristan Casas solo home run to center field in the bottom of the fifth inning. The homer traveled an estimated 423 feet and gave the Red Sox a 1-0 lead. The homer came off of Bowden Francis. He would surrender a two-run shot in the bottom of the sixth to Pedro Castellanos that extended the Worcester lead to 4-1 through six frames.

Buffalo's offense struck three times against reliever Brian Keller. After a bases loaded walk to Rafael Lantigua in the top of the sixth that briefly tied the game 1-1, Nathan Lukes and Lantigua each scored in the top of the eighth to bring the Herd within a run, 4-3.

However, closer Frank German was able to work around a two-out base hit in the top of the ninth and secure his sixth save of the season.

Otto Lopez had two of the Bisons nine hits, a day after losing his International League best 20-game hitting streak. It also snapped a 28-game on-base streak for the utilityman. Both Lukes and Lantigua had a pair of hits, as well.

Jose De Leon worked a scoreless inning of relief and struck out three batters in the process. Also, Hayden Juenger worked a clean bottom of the eighth for Buffalo in the defeat.

The Bisons will try and answer back and even up the series at two wins apiece on Friday night. Thomas Hatch is scheduled to start for Buffalo, with the first pitch at Polar Park slated for 6:45 p.m.
