LOUISVILLE, KY - The Louisville Bats (52-74) lost a close one to the Indianapolis Indians (64-60) on Thursday night at Louisville Slugger Field.

Cincinnati Red Hunter Greene (0-0, 0.00) made his first rehab start with Louisville this season after spending some time on the injured list with a right shoulder sprain.

The flamethrowing rehabber dazzled in his outing, tossing two scoreless innings, allowing a lone hit and striking out four of the seven batters he faced, including striking out the side in the top of the first inning.

In the home half of the second inning, left fielder TJ Hopkins led off the frame with a base hit. Following the knock, first baseman Alex McGarry laced his second double of the season into right field and a throwing error allowed Hopkins to advance home to score the game's first run.

Following another base knock in the inning from Michael Papierski, a sacrifice fly from center fielder Lorenzo Cedrola brought home McGarry, giving Louisville the 2-0 advantage.

Indianapolis threatened to break into the run column in the fourth inning after a double and a single put runners on the corners with one out, but the Louisville defense skillfully executed a very unorthodox 3-2-6-5-4 double play to escape the inning unscathed.

They threatened again in the sixth, loading the bases with two outs in the inning, but Louisville reliever Eddy Demurias entered the game in the bases-loaded jam and induced a fly out to center field to end the inning.

The Indians finally broke through in the seventh, plating three runs to spoil the shutout bid and take their first lead of the game.

After designated hitter Brendt Citta drew a leadoff walk to start the frame, second baseman Drew Maggi lined an RBI-double into right field to score Citta from first. They would ultimately plate two more in the inning to take the final 3-2 lead.

The Louisville offense looked dialed in early, but was held hitless past the second inning of the ball game as four different Indy relievers combined to retire 22 of the final 24 Bats hitters.

Game four of the six game series between the two clubs will be tomorrow night (September 2) with first pitch slated for 7:05 p.m. Right-hander Randy Wynne (5-11, 5.01) will get the ball for Louisville, while Indy's starter is yet to be named.
