May 15, 2016 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
In his first game with the Isotopes (20-18) in 2016, Ben Paulsen delivered a walk-off single to send the home team to a 7-6 victory over the Round Rock Express at Isotopes Park on Sunday.
All of the Isotopes seven runs on the afternoon came in the fifth inning or later, with five runs crossing the plate in the game's final three innings.
Outfielder Noel Cuevas put the Isotopes on the board in the fifth inning, driving an RBI triple to right field. Infielder Jeff Bianchi would follow with a sacrifice fly to make it a 3-2 contest in favor of Round Rock.
In the seventh inning, Cuevas picked up his second RBI of the game, scoring Jordan Patterson on a single. Cuevas would then be brought home on a fielding error by Round Rock, tying the game at 4-4.
The Express would quickly regain the lead, hitting back-to-back home runs on back-to-back pitches against Isotopes reliever Jason Gurka.
Now down 6-4 in the eighth, catcher Tom Murphy cut the Round Rock lead to one run after recording an RBI triple.
In the bottom of the ninth, infielder Rafael Ynoa tied the game at 6-6, delivering an RBI double to center. Ben Paulsen would then send the Isotopes to victory, delivering a walk-off single to win the game for Albuquerque.
Austin House earned his first Triple-A win, tossing a scoreless ninth inning for the Isotopes in front of his hometown crowd.
The Isotopes look for three in a row Monday evening in game three of their four-game set with Round Rock. Jeff Hoffman (2-2, 2.16) will toe the rubber for Albuquerque. He will be opposed by Round Rock's Michael Roth (2-1, 1.88). First pitch from Isotopes Park on Monday is set for 6:35 p.m.
