Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
The Albuquerque Isotopes (19-18) ended their four-game skid Saturday night with an 8-4 victory over the Round Rock Express (18-17) in the series opener at Isotopes Park.
The Express took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but back-to-back doubles from Rafael Ynoa and Brandon Barnes to start the bottom half of the inning knotted things up at 1-1. Mike Tauchman and Jordan Patterson followed them by each hitting RBI singles to put the Topes ahead 3-1. Albuquerque's final run of the frame came home on an errant pickoff throw by Round Rock starter Nick Martinez.
Round Rock got one run back in the third with Ryan Strausborger scoring on a wild pitch and added another run in the fourth on a throwing error by Albuquerque starter Jorge De La Rosa.
De La Rosa went 3.2 innings in his second rehab outing with the Isotopes, yielding two earned runs on five hits. He also struck out five batters.
Ryan Casteel blasted a three-run home run into the Isotopes bullpen to increase Albuquerque's advantage to 7-3. The home run was Casteel's second of the year. The Isotopes brought around another run in the seventh on a fielder's choice by Noel Cuevas.
Yohan Flande earned the win for the Isotopes in a 3.1 inning relief outing. The lefty limited the Express to two hits and no runs, while compiling a season-high six strikeouts.
The Isotopes continue their series against the Express tomorrow afternoon with Jordan Lyles (1-1, 5.14) tabbed to start on the mound. Lyles will be opposed by Round Rock right-hander Nick Tepesch (3-2, 3.61). Tomorrow's game is scheduled to get underway from Isotopes Park at 1:35 p.m.
