El Paso Chihuahuas News Release
The El Paso Chihuahuas hit five consecutive singles to end Sunday's game in walk-off fashion over the New Orleans Zephyrs. El Paso's 7-6 win ended with Ricardo Valenzuela's bases loaded single through the drawn in infield to give the Chihuahuas an on-field celebration for the second straight game.
El Paso entered the ninth inning down 6-4 when Diego Goris walked on four pitches to begin the rally. Then Hunter Renfroe, Ryan Schimpf, Alex Dickerson, Nick Noonan and Valenzuela hit consecutive singles to bring in three runs without making an out. Renfroe went 3-for-5 with a three-run homer in the win.
El Paso's leadoff hitter reached base in six of the nine innings Sunday. The Chihuahuas have now won five of their last seven games and sit two games over .500 for the first time this season.
El Paso reliever Tayron Guerrero was recalled by San Diego before the game and will become the 16th player to make their Major League debut after playing for the Chihuahuas.
