Salt Lake Bees News Release
SALT LAKE CITY - After a short turnaround from last night's 18-inning marathon game, the Salt Lake Bees dropped game number two against the Colorado Springs Sky Sox Sunday afternoon by a score of 5-4. Bees starter Zach Nuding was handed the loss, bringing his record to 1-3 on the season. The Bees offense loaded the bases in the first inning for the recently promoted Sherman Johnson. Johnson singled on a line drive to center field. An errant throw by Sky Sox center fielder Keon Broxton brought home all three runners.
Colorado Springs answered with one of their own in the home half of the first. In the fourth inning, the Sky Sox took the lead after posting four runs on Zach Nuding. Nuding finished with 3.0 IP, 6 hits, 5 earned runs, 5 walks and added 3 strikeouts. Reliever Cody Satterwhite continued his dominance on the road giving two innings while allowing just one hit and allowing no runs. So far in 2016, opponents are batting just .053 when facing Satterwhite on their home turf. Lucas Luetge added an inning striking out one lowering his ERA to 1.53. Neal Cotts delivered a perfect 7th inning and was followed by an Al Alburquerque 1-2-3, scoreless 8th.
After back-to-back walks in the top of the 9th, Rey Navarro executed a perfect sacrifice bunt to move up the runners 90-feet. With one out, Juan Graterol hit a line drive to Sky Sox third baseman Will Middlebrooks who stepped on third to double up Kubitza. Game three of the four-game series will kick off tomorrow at 6:35 PM. The voice of the Bees, Steve Klauke, will rejoin the team Monday after calling the previous three games for the Los Angeles Angels. All Bees games - home and away - are broadcast on The Zone Sports Network (1280 AM) with Steve Klauke providing the play-by-play.
