INDIANAPOLIS - Christian Bethancourt caught Johneshwy Fargas attempting to steal second base as the potential tying runner in the top of the ninth inning to clinch the Indianapolis Indians win over the Iowa Cubs on Tuesday night, 4-3.

Both teams traded runs in the first inning before Iowa (42-61) took a 2-1 lead in the third with a solo home run by major league rehabber and two-time National League All-Star Willson Contreras.

The Indians (49-53) tied the game in the fifth inning when Bligh Madris led off the frame with his eighth home run with Indy this season. Madris also doubled in the third inning for the Indians only two extra-base hits in the game.

The I-Cubs retook the lead in the sixth inning following a leadoff double by Greg Deichmann. With one out, he was driven in on a sacrifice fly to center field off the bat of Abiatal Avelino.

Three consecutive walks by Brendon Little (L, 0-1) led to the Indians taking a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. With no outs and the bases loaded, Chris Sharpe grounded out to score the tying run. Jared Oliva then singled to center field to drive in Ethan Paul as the game-winning run.

Cody Ponce (W, 1-4) and Tyler Bashlor (S, 5) combined for three one-hit innings to close out the game.

The Indians and Iowa will face off again on Wednesday night at 7:05 PM ET. Neither team has named a starter for the contest.
