JACKSONVILLE, FL - Bulls starting pitcher Brent Honeywell Jr. fired his second straight quality outing and struck out a season-high seven batters, while first baseman Dalton Kelly crushed one of four Durham home runs as the club clinched the Surf and Turf Series with a 13-2 victory over the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp on Tuesday evening at 121 Financial Field.

The win was also Durham's 19th triumph over Jacksonville this season, officially clinching the Surf & Turf Series for the Bulls. As stipulated prior to the 2021 campaign, the Jumbo Shrimp must now give away 500 shirts featuring the Bulls logo saying "We lost the 2021 Surf & Turf Series to the Durham Bulls" at a 2022 Jacksonville home game.

Honeywell (6.0 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 7 K) earned his third straight victory after tossing six quality frames while recording a 2021-best seven punchouts. Over his last three outings he has posted a 1.50 ERA (3 ER/18.0 IP) adding 15 strikeouts compared to just two walks. Relievers Nick Anderson (1.0 IP, 2 K), Louis Head (1.0 IP, BB, 2 K) and Brian Moran (1.0 IP, K) would combine for the final three scoreless frames, while Jumbo Shrimp southpaw Brandon Leibrandt (3.1 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 2 BB, 8 K) suffered the defeat.

LF Vidal Brujan got the scoring started with the first home run of the night, a three-run blast to left that exited the entire stadium in the third. DH David Freitas would make it 5-0 with a two-run shot one inning later, though Jacksonville would get narrow their deficit to 5-2 in the last of the frame. From that point on the Bulls plated eight unanswered tallies thanks in part to longballs from SS Taylor Walls and Kelly in the fifth and seventh innings, respectively, before RF Josh Lowe capped the scoring with a three-run blast to right in the eighth.

Kelly went deep again on Tuesday evening after bashing two home runs in each of his two previous contests. His 23 big flies entering play on Tuesday paced all Tampa Bay Rays minor leaguers, in addition to ranking third among Triple-A East players. Durham's five longballs also matched a single-game season-high.

The Bulls and Jumbo Shrimp are scheduled to face off again on Wednesday evening, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05pm. RHP Tobias Myers is anticipated to get the nod for Durham, while RHP Nick Neidert is slated to toe the rubber for Jacksonville.

The Bulls return home on Tuesday, September 7 for their penultimate homestand of the year, facing off against the Norfolk Tides for seven tilts. Start time for that series' opener is set for 6:35pm. Tickets for that game, as well as all remaining Bulls home games are available and can be purchased at DurhamBulls.com.
