Jacksonville Icemen News Release
JACKSONVILLE, FL - Cole Moberg scored the overtime winner to lead the Florida Everblades to a 3-2 win over the Jacksonville Icemen Thursday night. The Icemen do gain a point in the South Division standing and are now five points out of a playoff spot behind Savannah.
Florida opened up the scoring in the first period with a power player goal from Anthony Romano.
The Icemen countered in the second when Jed Pietila picked up the puck off the rebound amongst a scramble in front and buried a shot into the open net to tie it up at one.
In the third, the Icemen went on a power play and David Jankowski slipped to the slot and Adam McMaster found him there with a pass and Jankowski sniped a shot high past Florida goaltender Cam Johnson to hive the Icemen the 2-1 lead.
The Everblades eventually tied it up on a screened shot by Ross MacDougall that clipped past Icemen goaltender Topias Leinonen to even the game at two.
In overtime, Cole Moberg skated with space from the right circle and snapped shot that hit off of Leinonen's pad and into the net for the game winner.
The two teams meet again on Friday and Saturday at Vystar Arena. Game time for both games is set for 7:00 p.m. For tickets visit Ticketmaster or call 904-602-7825.
