Long Beach Ice Dogs News Release

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Ice Dogs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations, Kevin Kaminski, announced today the team has acquired forward Jimmy Callahan, cash, and future considerations from the Florida Everblades for center John McNabb. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Callahan, a 6-2, 210 pound forward from Lexington, Massachusetts played only one game for Florida, after being acquired from the Lakeland Loggerheads of the WHA2. With Lakeland, Callahan registered 17-11-28 and 76 penalty minutes in 34 games. "Jimmy is a good two-way winger with a great work ethic", said Kaminski. "He brings speed and skill to our lineup and will help strengthen us defensively."

The Ice Dogs trade McNabb, who led the team in points (20-25-45) in 49 games but ranked last with a +/- of -31. The Ice Dogs essentially will get a total of two players in the deal once the future considerations are determined. Callahan will join the team in Anchorage this weekend for a three game series with the Alaska Aces that begins tomorrow night.
