
Hunwick Records First Pro Shutout over Orlando

North Charleston, S.C. - Goaltender Shawn Hunwick stopped all 31 shots to lead the South Carolina Stingrays (4-5-0-1) past the Orlando Solar Bears (5-3-1-1) 3-0 at the North Charleston Coliseum Saturday night.
Forward Hunter Bishop put the Stingrays on top at 16:12 of the opening period knocking a rebound past Solar Bears goaltender John Curry (L, 23 saves on 25 shots). Forwards Kevin Petovello and Tyler Johnson added assists.
The Stingrays made it 2-0 at 14:52 of the second period when forward Dylan Clarke lifted a shot over the shoulder of Curry from the bottom of the right-wing circle for his first goal of the season. Bishop and defenseman Tommy Cross registered assists.
Forward Alden Hirschfeld sealed the victory with an empty-net goal with seven seconds left from forward Shawn Weller and Cross. The Stingrays finished the night 0-for-5 on the power play while the Solar Bears went 0-for-4.
The Stingrays open a six-game road trip tomorrow, Sunday, November 4 against the Gwinnett Gladiators at 4:05 p.m. at The Arena at Gwinnett Center and return to the Coliseum on Friday, November 16 against the Florida Everblades at 7:05 p.m. for Salute to Heroes Night with local EMS, fire and police departments.
