Orlando Solar Bears News Release
Charleston, SC - G Shawn Hunwick stood tall for the Stingrays as the Solar Bears fell 3-0 to South Carolina at the North Charleston Coliseum on Saturday Night. Orlando returns home to face the Gwinnett Gladiators on Wednesday and Thursday, November 7 and 8. [image: John Curry]
Orlando surrendered the first goal of the game late in the first period. A shot from the left point was deflected by F Kevin Petovello, and after the initial save was made by G John Curry, F Hunter Bishop jumped on the rebound for the game's first goal. The Stingrays held the 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
South Carolina boosted their lead to 2-0 with the only goal of the second stanza. A bouncing puck through the neutral zone landed on the stick of Bishop, and he slid a backhand pass to F Dylan Clarke. While falling down, Clarke picked the top right corner of the net to score with 5:08 left in the frame.
Despite some good scoring chances in the third period, Orlando was not able to solve Hunwick, who stopped 13 Solar Bears shots in the final frame. With six seconds left in the game, F Alden Hirschfeld deposited the puck into an empty Solar Bears net for the game's final 3-0 score. Hunwick ended the night with 31 saves.
