
Road Warriors Win Thriller 3-1 in Final Minutes

Greenville, SC: Greenville played a tight contest tonight against the Florida Everblades but managed to secure a 3-1 victory.
Florida stormed out of the gates scoring 31 seconds into the game. Brandon MacLean scored what would be Florida's only goal with assists going to Bobby Raymond and Matt Marquardt. First period action went to the direction of Greenville from then on. The Road Warriors outshot Florida 13-6 for the period but still trailed going into the locker rooms.
The Everblades entered the second period with powerplay but was not able to convert. Neither team notched a power play goal on the night with both teams had three opportunities. Kenndal McArdle scored the game tying goal in the second period with assists given to Brendan Wong and Marc-Olivier Vallerand. Wong and Vallerand each extended their point streak to 3 games. The second period was tilted in the favor of Florida as they outshot the Road Warriors 14-5.
The two teams upped the intensity for the third period but remained tied until 2:23 left. The Road Warriors had a 2 on 1 break and Brendan Connolly broke the tie with a shot that beat goaltender Pat Nagle blocker high. Wong added an insurance goal putting his fifth of the season behind the Florida netminder.
Nathan Lieuwen got the win in net stopping a barrage of Florida scoring opportunities. Lieuwen was the second star of the game and stopped 31 of 32 shots. Nagle took the loss saving 24 of 27 shots.
The Road Warriors finish the home stand tomorrow night. The game versus Florida is Pucks-n-Paws Day presented by Cleveland Park Animal Hospitals. The Road Warriors are also pleased to welcome associate sponsor, Roper Mountain Animal Hospital. Fans will be able to bring their dog(s) to the game with free admission and have the opportunity to enter their dog in a 1st intermission small dog derby race. Sunday is also BI-LO Family Fun Day. Show your BI-LO BONUSCARD at the Box Office two hours before the game and receive up to four free tickets in the BI-LO Family Fun Section. Following the game on Sunday, fans can skate on the ice with all their favorite Road Warriors players. Skate rentals are only $3.
