Elmira Jackals News Release
DULUTH, Ga. - November 3, 2012 - The Elmira Jackals continue their march through the South Division tonight by paying a visit to the Arena at Gwinnett Center to take on the division-leading Gwinnett Gladiators.
WHO: Elmira Jackals (6-1-0) at Gwinnett Gladiators (5-3-1)
WHAT: Elmira Jackals Away Game #2.
WHERE: Arena at Gwinnett Center - 6400 Sugarloaf Parkway, Duluth, Ga.30097 . Radio Broadcast on WEHH AM 1600, FM 93.9, and online at www.1600wehh.com. Internet TV broadcast courtesy of America One.
WHEN: 7:05 p.m.
Tonight is the first, and only, scheduled meeting between the Jackals and Gladiators this season. Gwinnett, along with Florida, is one of two South Division teams that won't visit First Arena this season. The Jackals are 8-4-1 all-time against the Gladiators which includes a 4-2-0 mark in Gwinnett. Elmira's last stop in Gwinnett didn't go as smoothly as planned with the Jackals dropping back-to-back decisions on January 27 and 28, 2012 by a combined score of 8-4. Prior to those games the Jackals had not lost in this building.
Marc Cheverie is off to the best start to a season in his professional career. He was named ECHL goalie of the month for October with a 3-1-0 record, 1.52 goals-against average, and .953 save percentage. Last night's win over South Carolina was his fourth and came quicker than it ever has in his career. As a rookie with Cincinnati in 2010-11 it took Cheverie eight starts to reach four wins (4-2-2), and last season it took 14 starts for him to collect his fourth win (4-2-8). Cheverie finished the 2011-12 regular season by winning seven of his final nine starts (7-2-0) and combined with this season has gone 11-3-0 in his last 14 regular season games.
Mark your calendars! The Jackals are back on First Arena ice on Friday, November 16, 2012 to take on the Trenton Titans at 7:05 p.m. Group tickets are available for any group of 10 or more.
