It will be a rare Saturday afternoon showdown for the Kalamazoo Wings, as they drop the puck against their archrivals, the Fort Wayne Komets, at Wings Stadium. On the season, Kalamazoo leads the series against Fort Wayne with a record of 2-0-0-0.
After losing 5-4 to the Cincinnati Cyclones last night, Kalamazoo returns to the ice in an effort to snap a season-high two-game losing streak. This afternoon will end a stretch of nine straight games against North Division opponents for the K-Wings.
Today is the middle game of a three-game road swing for the Komets. Fort Wayne began the trip with a 4-3 win last night against the Toledo Walleye. Starting to heat up, the Komets have won two straight contests and are tied with the Walleye for third place in the division, one point behind the K-Wings for second.

So far this season, the K-Wings have registered nearly half of their offense in the second period. Coming into today, Kalamazoo has scored 11 of their 23 goals in the middle stanza.
Explosive Performance
Forward Brett Lysak had his best game as a K-Wing last night. Lysak posted a season-high four points (2 goals, 2 assists) in the Kalamazoo's 5-4 loss to Cincinnati.
