Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen Hockey Club is pleased to announce the selection of Beck Malenstyn in the first round, 18th overall, in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft.

Malenstyn, a 15-year-old centre from Penticton, British Columbia, recorded a team-leading 107 points (57g, 50a) along with 108 penalty minutes in 53 games played with the Okanagan Hockey Academy Bantam Red (OMAHA) this past season.

"He's a player we really liked this year and we were pleased to get him at 18. He's versatile and can play any forward position. Beck works hard every shift, takes the body, shoots the puck hard and is the right combination of size and skill," commented Hitmen Head Scout Dan Bonar on the 6-0, 160-pound forward. "He reminds me of a player we had here in the past, Brett Sonne."

The first overall pick in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft was Tyler Benson, selected by the Vancouver Giants. The draft continues throughout the day in the Sundance Room at the Deerfoot Inn.
