Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen Hockey Club drafted 11 players today in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft including five forwards, five defencemen and one goaltender.

The Hitmen selected 15-year-old centre Beck Malenstyn with their first pick, 18th overall. The Penticton, British Columbia product led the Okanagan Hockey Academy Bantam Red (OMAHA) with 107 points, including 57 goals, while registering 108 penalty minutes in 53 games played during the 2012-13 season.

"He's a player we really liked this year and we were pleased to get him at 18. He's versatile and can play any forward position. Beck works hard every shift, takes the body, shoots the puck hard and is the right combination of size and skill," commented Hitmen Head Scout Dan Bonar on the 6-0, 160-pound forward. "He reminds me of a player we had here in the past, Brett Sonne."
