
Heartlanders looking for strong home stand, wrap up road trip at Cincinnati

Cincinnati, OH - The Iowa Heartlanders completed a four-game road trip with a 9-4 loss at the Cincinnati Cyclones Saturday at Heritage Bank Center. Jesse Jacques and Odeen Tufto paced Iowa two points. Jacques (1g, 1a) leads Iowa with eight points this season and is tied for a team-best four goals.
Louie Caporusso, Zack Andrusiak and Sahil Panwar scored in the opening 13 minutes of the game, giving Cincinnati at 3-0 advantage. Hunter Jones made six saves in the first (3 GA). Peyton Jones replaced Hunter with 7:19 to go in the opening period.
Iowa got goals from Max Cajkovic (PPG at :39 of 2nd), Jake Durflinger (5:28) and Liam Coughlin (15:22). Cajkovic's one-timed slap shot gave Iowa its third man-up goal of the season, assisted by Landon Kosior and Odeen Tufto. Durflinger snuck one in on the short-side, assisted by Louis Boudon. Coughlin curled the puck in on a two-on-one, taking a brilliant cross-slot pass from Will Calverley.
The Cyclones scored four times in the second to extend the lead to 7-3 after 40 minutes.
The Heartlanders scored their last goal with four minutes to go. Tufto won a face-off back to Jacques and he wristed it through bodies and in.
Talyn Boyko made 19 saves in victory.
Iowa starts a six-game home stand on Wed., Nov. 8 at 6:35 p.m. vs. Kalamazoo. The team takes on Kalamazoo on Wed., Nov. 8 at 6:35 p.m., Thurs., Nov. 9 at 6:35 p.m. and Sat., Nov. 11 at 7:05 p.m. The next week, Iowa is home three times against Utah. On Wed., Nov. 15, it's Field Trip Day pres. by MidAmerican Energy Company, with a special 10:35 a.m. puck drop. The Heartlanders host the Grizzlies again for Military Appreciation Night pres. by GreenState Credit Union on Fri., Nov. 17 at 6:35 p.m. and then complete the six-game homestand on Sat., Nov. 18 vs. Utah at 6:05 p.m.
