Grizzlies Drop Decision In Victoria

April 2, 2010 - ECHL (ECHL)
Utah Grizzlies News Release

Victoria, British Columbia - The Victoria Salmon Kings defeated the Utah Grizzlies (33-29-4-5) 9-2 Friday night in Victoria.

Utah took a 1-0 lead 2:55 into the first period on a Dylan Hunter (17) power-play goal as he extended his ECHL leading active scoring streak to 12 games. The Utah lead lasted 6:03 and the Grizzlies had a chance to make it 2-0, but James Sixsmith clanged a post on a shorthanded breakaway and a three-on-one odd man rush featuring Utah's number one line of AJ Perry, Hunter and Ryan Kinasewich was broken up by the Salmon Kings. The breakup led to a two-on-one for Victoria that started a stretch of seven goals in a 29:05 stretch as they built a 7-1 lead late in the second period.

Utah made it 7-2 on Ryan Kinasewich's 47th goal of the year with 54 seconds left in the second period. The goal by the Utah captain set a team record for most goals in a season in Grizzlies history (Kip Miller, 46, 1994-95) and also gave him 100 points on the year. Kinasewich also became the first Utah player to get 100 points in a season since Miller got 106 in 94-95 as well.

Utah completes the regular season in Victoria Saturday. Face-off is scheduled for 8:05 p.m.
