Countdown To Face-Off

In a possible playoff preview, the Kalamazoo Wings will host the Toledo Walleye in the first of two straight at Wings Stadium. On the season, the K-Wings are 5-4-2-0 against the Walleye, with Toledo winning the last encounter 6-3 last Sunday at the Lucas County Arena.

With two games remaining in the regular season, the K-Wings lead the North Division by a single-point over the Cincinnati Cyclones. Kalamazoo also trails the Charlotte Checkers by one point for the overall top spot in the American Conference.

Clinching a playoff berth on Wednesday, it's all about seeding for the Walleye. In third place in the North Division with 77 points, Toledo is currently in seventh place in the American Conference. The Walleye hold a one point lead over the Reading Royals, who are in eighth.

Firing Squad

Last Sunday the K-Wings posted a season-high 56 shots in a 6-3 loss to the Toledo Walleye. The previous game-high for Kalamazoo was 49 on December 5th also at the Lucas County Arena against Toledo.

Rolling Along

Forwards Mathieu Curadeau, Trent Daavettila and Rick Cleaver all enter tonight on impressive multi-game point streaks. Curadeau and Daavettila have earned points in four straight games, while Cleaver has notched points in three straight contests.

Right at Home

Forward Dean Strong has definitely felt at home at Wings Stadium. Strong has earned points in all 14 games (10 goals, 11 assists) he has played on Vanrick Drive.

Leading the Way

So far this season, the K-Wings have spent a majority of the season in first place in the North Division. To date, Kalamazoo has spent 92 days in first place, 54 days in second and 24 days in third place in the division.
