Utah Grizzlies News Release

WEST VALLEY CITY, UTAH- The Utah Grizzlies mounted a comeback on Monday night at the 'E' Center but it wasn't enough to end the Rochester American's winning streak which now stands at five straight games with their 3-2 victory over the Grizzlies.

Utah scored the first goal of the game on a terrific rush led by Aaron Gavey whose left wing blast was kicked out in front by Ryan Miller and then followed up by Peter White for his first goal with the Grizzlies and his third of the season.

Rochester would come out flying in the second period bottling the Grizzlies up allowing a franchise-low one shot on goal compared to their 15. Jason Pominville scored on a rebound off a Thomas Vanek shot for his 11th goal of the season tying the game at one goal apiece. Vanek would later follow with his 10th goal of the season on power play giving the Amerks the lead.

In the third period, Milan Bartovi scored his first goal of the season unassisted at the 8:02 mark propelling the Amerks to a 3-1 lead. Utah turned on the afterburners late in the frame with Fredrik Sjostrom re-directing a Dustin Wood shot by Miller for his fourth goal of the season cutting the lead to one but that is as close as the Grizzlies would get.

Rochester outshot Utah 28-23 as Miller made 21 saves improving to 11-8-1 on the year and David LeNeveu made 25 saves falling to 4-9-1 on the season.

The teams will go at it again on Wednesday night at the 'E' Center with face-off scheduled for 7:05 PM.
