Brent Krahn named CCM Vector/AHL Player of the Week
December 6, 2004 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Albany Devils News Release
Lowell, MA -The Lowell Lock Monsters announced that the American Hockey League has named goaltender Brent Krahn the CCM Vector/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending December 5, 2004. Krahn was 3-0-0 with two shutouts last week for the Lock Monsters.
Krahn began the week with a 29-save effort in a 4-0 win over Worcester on Tuesday, and a day later was named the Koho AHL Goaltender of the Month for November. In his first appearance of December, Krahn set a new Lock Monsters shut out franchise record with a 1-0 win over Hartford on Friday, stopping all 30 shots in regulation and overtime and all 13 of the Wolf Pack's shootout attempts. It was his fourth shutout in five starts over a 13-day span. Krahn ended the week with 32 saves in a 6-4 win over Springfield on Sunday, finishing with a 3-0-0 record, a 1.30 goals-against average and a .956 save percentage.
In recognition of his achievement, Krahn will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Lock Monsters home game.
A native of Winnipeg, Man., the 22-year-old Krahn is in his second professional season in 2004-05 after being selected ninth overall (by Calgary) in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. He has a record of 8-3-0 in 11 games for Lowell this season, with a 2.26 GAA and .926 save percentage, and his four shutouts are a Lock Monsters franchise record. Krahn appeared in 21 AHL games last year between Lowell and San Antonio, posting a mark of 5-10-1.
The Lock Monsters head out on the road this weekend with back to back contests in Norfolk (Friday - 7:30 pm, Saturday - 7:30 pm). They wrap up their road trip with a Sunday evening contest in Hershey (5:00 pm). All games are broadcast live on WCAP AM 980 and on the internet at www.lockmonsters.com.
