GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League on Monday signed left wing Ernie Hartlieb (HART-leeb) to a professional tryout.

A 25-year-old native of Sterling Heights, Mich., Hartlieb has appeared in 89 AHL contests with Worcester and Lowell over the last three seasons, totaling 50 points (21-29—50) and 74 penalty minutes.

He spent the 2003-04 campaign with Worcester, tying for fourth on the club with 14 goals and ranking sixth with 35 points despite playing in only 63 games. His five game-winning goals tied for the IceCats' lead.

This season, Hartlieb has contributed 12 points (3-9—12) in 15 contests with the ECHL's Florida Everblades, while going scoreless in two games with Lowell. He will be available to make his Griffins debut on Tuesday when they visit Newfoundland for a 6:05 p.m. start against the St. John's Maple Leafs.
